How I Regained Command of My Life – And You Can as Well
I'm Simon, and I reached my breaking point about a year ago. At 232 pounds, I was heavy, sluggish, and lethargic. I had sore knees, and my energy was non-existent. I knew I had greater potential than that. I'm an officer, which is a physically and mentally demanding profession. Still, I was existing at the moment in a body that didn't mirror the self-discipline I knew I possessed.
I came to a decision one day: no more excuses.
I didn’t do anything magical. I didn’t cut corners. I learned. I kept track of my food. I purchased a scale. I learned how to prepare meals that were low-calorie but didn’t taste like punishment. I cleaned my house, refilled my refrigerator with foods that fit my objectives, and learned how to cook. Gradually but surely, I lost 54 pounds.
I went from 232 to 178.
I took maintenance breaks when I needed to—I wasn't crash dieting; I was transforming my life. I'm in the leaner phase today, pursuing that shredded, athlete physique—not just for aesthetics but because I enjoy the process.
I'm not a freak of nature. I'm not Chris Bumstead. I'm just an average guy. I bench press well over 225 pounds. I'm able to deadlift heavy off the hex bar. I've worked to the level where others asked, “How did you do it?”
I created the blog to share my path, the advice that worked for me, and the attitude that brought me to where I am. It's not about the six-pack abs. It's about becoming the best version of you — the strongest you, body, mind, and spirit. I've been in the trenches. I've known what it is to feel stuck. But I've also known what it is to take back your health, take back your confidence, and take back your sense of purpose.
